About Luan

Luan Baldwin

– Free-wheelin’ but based in Brisbane and always looking for a new gig, a fresh riff, a strange chord and a story to write about.

– Known for his inability to make up his mind between folk, blues, country and popular  music so often just smooshing them all together

Since childhood, Luan has been singing and writing songs; a need that has continued into adulthood. He is a uniquely Australian story-teller who writes from his experiences in life, love, loss and years spent at sea. His years living and working offshore have inspired him to write a series of modern day ‘sea songs’ which have now become his trademark. A number of these songs have been recorded on his albums “Tales from Port Curtis” (2006) and “Half Tide” (2017).Luan began teaching himself guitar at the age of 9 and eventually majored in classical guitar at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) under international virtuoso, Karin Schaupp. His diverse musical background and experience is the reason why his original repertoire encompasses a range of styles including blues, country, folk and rock.

Luan had performed extensively through his teens and early twenties before settling into a career in the maritime industry. His years working offshore has been the inspiration for the writing of a number of songs, many of which have been recorded on his albums.

Luan is a virtuoso Australian performer with years of entertainment experience both in Gladstone and Brisbane. He is now a regular performer at Grill’d, West End. An accomplished songwriter, he writes in multiple genres as well as delivering live acoustic versions of popular covers. He regularly performs using Australian country, blues, roots, jazz and folk music styles whilst always adding his own unique musical delivery. Luan is a registered member of APRA and liability insured as a solo artist.

Whether performing solo or together with his friend and family, Luan always offers something new, original and genuine each time he takes the stage.
